Synthetic Leather is the term used for synthetically manufactured upper materials in various looks, such as smooth or reptile leather or elastic materials (stretch nappa, nappa elastic).
Care:
1. Clean your shoes with mild leather shampoo or mild cleaning foam, and use a good quality brush to remove loose surface dirt. If your shoes are wet after cleaning, let them air-dry before you proceed with the next step. To remove stains, use a stain remover. DO NOT store wet leather shoes near a heat source, as shoes may shrink.
2. Care and Conditioning is best done with products that are specifically formulated for synthetics. These products are guaranteed to keep the materials flexible. A good shoe/boot brush works well to remove dirt and grime from this type of material. Cotton shoe shine cloths are great to buff your shoes with polish, giving your shoes that extra sparkle. If you have shoe polish in a tin, a wool dauber is a great way to polish your shoes, and is the easiest way to polish.
3. Water-/Weatherproofing is easy with a spray specifically designed for patent and fashion leather. Water-/Weatherproofing is usually not necassary with Synthetic Leather, even if the shoes are worn outside, but it will not damage the leather. If you decide to water-/weatherproof your synthetic leather shoes, a good product to use is Collonil's Waterstop Spray.
